Volunteer Service Description:
To provide a world class experience within Johns Hopkins All Childrens Hospital by greeting and providing a friendly escort for the patients and/or guests to the appropriate destination.
Essential Volunteer Functions:
  • Escort guests and/ or patients to the appropriate destination.
  • Provide a high level of customer service with a professional and friendly greeting for patients and guests.
  • Provide helpful information to guests and/or patients or connect them with the appropriate staff member to help them in order to enrich the guests or patients experience.
    • Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively with others.
    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time up to four (4) hours.
    • Ability to push patients in wheelchairs and lift or carry up to twenty (20) pounds.
      Orientation Training:
      Volunteers will complete a general orientation conducted by Volunteer Services, which includes Service Excellence, Infection Control, Safety, Confidentiality, volunteer policies and procedures, and health screening prior to commencing their volunteer assignment.
      Complete an annual In-service review and TB screening annually.
      Volunteers receive area specific training.
      Minimal patient contact.
